How the Barcelona Card works

Barcelona's official tourist card, the Barcelona Card, offers free entry to over 20 museums and attractive discounts at selected sights. Highlights include popular museums such as the Picasso Museum, the Moco Museum and the Castell de Montjuïc.

The card also allows free use of public transport in the city without having to buy separate tickets.

The City Card is available with a validity period of 72, 96 or 120 hours.

You can buy the card online and collect your City Card in Barcelona either directly at the airport or in the city centre.

Your Barcelona Card is activated the first time you use it and is then valid for up to 120 hours. The City Card is offered at a reduced price for children aged 4 to 12.


Who is the Barcelona Card suitable for?

The Barcelona Card is worthwhile for a stay of several days in Barcelona if you want to explore the city intensively and also use public transport.

Some museums in particular should be on your list of places to visit in Barcelona, as the Barcelona Card mainly applies to museums.

The City Card is also suitable for families, as there are reduced prices for children. It also includes family-friendly activities such as a visit to the zoo or a Hop-on/Hop-off tour.


What does the Barcelona Card cost?

The price for the Barcelona Card depends on its validity:

  • 72 hours: 55,00 EUR
  • 96 hours: 65,00 EUR
  • 120 hours: 77,00 EUR

The price applies to people aged 12 and over. The City Card is offered at a reduced price for children aged 4 to 12.

Combi ticket Barcelona Card + Gaudí package

Unfortunately, the Sagrada Família and Park Güell are not included in the regular package. However, there is an attractive combined ticket that includes the Barcelona Card and a Gaudí package. This gives you the Barcelona Card with all services and free entry to the Sagrada Família and Park Güell.

The Hop-on/Hop-off bus is also a great way to explore Barcelona. This allows you to get a relaxed overview of the city and get off where you want to take a closer look. With the Barcelona Card you receive a 10% discount on journeys on the Hop-on/Hop-off buses of Barcelona Bus Turístic. Please note: There are also other providers of Hop-on/Hop-off tours in Barcelona. However, the discount only applies to Barcelona Bus Turístic.

Public transport with the Barcelona Card

The Barcelona Card entitles you to unlimited and free use of all public transport in Barcelona operated by the transport company TMB.

This includes:

  • Trams
  • Buses (except the night buses)
  • Metro
  • City and suburban trains from FCG
  • RENFE trains (zone 1)

You can get from the airport to the city centre by metro and train.

Is the Barcelona Card worth it?

The Barcelona Card is available with a validity period of 72 to 120 hours and entitles the holder to free and priority admission to many museums, discounts on sights and leisure activities and free use of public transport.

You can buy the Barcelona Card from various ticket platforms, including Tiqets.com. After your purchase, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with further information on how to collect your City Card.

The City Card is activated the first time it is used in one of the participating museums. The included Travel Card is activated the first time it is used on public transport. It is then valid for up to 120 hours, depending on the option booked.

Tip: If you are travelling by plane, it is best to pick up your Barcelona Card directly at the airport. Then you can use it straight away for the free underground or train journey into the city.

If your travel plans change, you can cancel your booking free of charge up to one day before your departure.
