Is the Berlin WelcomeCard worth it?

Berlin is a very extensive city and has numerous sights and attractions to offer its visitors. With the Berlin WelcomeCard you can visit many of them at a reduced price. You can also use public transport free of charge with the City Card.

As you need a little more time to explore a big city like Berlin, we are comparing our results with the 72-hour Berlin WelcomeCard Classic (Zone AB).

The following table shows how much you can save:

Berlin WelcomeCard: 72h36,00 €
Public transport: 3 days28,50 €0,00 €
Berlin television tower22,50 €16,87 €
German espionage museum14,00 €10,50 €
Museum of Natural History11,00 €6,87 €

Charlottenburg Palace19,00 €14,25 €
City wall spree by boat24,00 €18,00 €
Total168,50 €139,49 €

In this example, you save almost 30,00 €. The City Card is particularly worthwhile if you use public transport. It is also worthwhile if you visit some higher-priced attractions, as the Berlin WelcomeCard Classic only grants discounts but not free admission.

Alternatively, you can opt for the Berlin WelcomeCard Classic, which is valid for 72 hours and does not include local public transport. This costs just 10,00 € and pays for itself quickly if you use it regularly. However, in this case you should bear in mind that some of the sights in Berlin are a long way apart. In this case, it is advisable to hire a bike so that you can still reach the desired destinations easily.
