What is the Porto Card?

The Porto Card is the official sightseeing pass of the city of Porto, which offers free and unlimited use of public transportation, free or discounted entry to over 150 attractions and museums as well as additional discounts in restaurants and stores for 1 to 4 days.

The Porto Card allows unlimited free travel on the metro, city buses, private bus lines and local trains in Porto and the surrounding area. The following means of transportation are included:

  • City buses (STCP)
  • Metro incl. line E from the airport to the city center
  • Private bus lines
  • CP local trains and suburban trains (which also take you to the popular beach in Espinho)

The card must be validated for every journey, even when changing trains. To do this, you hold it up to the yellow card validator and a green light signal confirms successful validation.

Historic streetcars are not included in the Porto Card and require separate tickets.

How to use the Porto Card optimally

The card runs for exactly 24, 48, 72 or 96 hours from the first use. Activate it in the morning to reach the maximum usage time.

Visit as many of the 150+ attractions with free or discounted admission as possible. Plan your route so that it includes the most expensive attractions.

Take advantage of free and unlimited use of the metro, buses and local trains. Including airport transfers, this saves additional money on separate tickets.

The Porto Card offers discounts at many restaurants and stores. Find out about participating establishments in advance and take advantage of the discounts.

You can pick up the card at the airport but activate it later. This means that the period of use remains unchanged and you have flexibility.

The Porto Card is automatically activated from the date and time stated on the back. The separate transport ticket is activated the first time it is used on public transport.
