How the Rotterdam Card works

The Rotterdam Welcome Card is the official City Card of the Dutch port city. This card makes travelling a breeze, as it offers the following advantages:

  • Free use of public transport in the city
  • Discounts for attractions, tours and restaurants

You can buy the ticket online and pick it up at one of the tourist information offices in Rotterdam. The local transport ticket is valid for 1, 2 or 3 days. During this time you can use the metro, tram and bus as often as you like. The discounts are even valid for up to 7 days.

Who is the Rotterdam Card suitable for?

The Rotterdam City Card is suitable for travellers who want to explore the city by public transport and visit some museums and sights.

The Welcome Card pays for itself quickly if used regularly during its period of validity.

How much does the Rotterdam Welcome Card cost?

The price of the Rotterdam Card depends on the period of validity.

  • 1 day: 15,50 €
  • 2 days: 21,00 €
  • 3 days: 25,50 €

The period of validity only applies to public transport. The discount card is valid for a maximum of 7 days.

The card is valid for adults and children from the age of 4. Children under the age of 4 do not need their own ticket for public transport. Therefore, the City Card is not of interest to them.

Is the Rotterdam Welcome Card worth it?

With the Rotterdam Welcome Card you can visit numerous sights and museums and take part in tours and walking tours. For all these services, the City Card grants reduced admission.

Free visits are not possible, so the savings are moderate. Nevertheless, the value for money is quite good. Those who use public transport and visit some sights can easily save money with the City Card.

The following table shows how much you can save, using the 2-day ticket as an example:

In our opinion, the Rotterdam Card is worthwhile if you use public transport every day and also take advantage of one or two discounts. Especially the local transport ticket is very important to save money, because daily public transport tickets are quite expensive for tourists.

The more you use your Rotterdam City Card, the more it pays off!
