How the Bratislava Card works

The Bratislava Card is the official guest card of the City of Bratislava and allows you to discover many sights in and around Bratislava at an attractive price. The City Card is available with a validity of 1, 2 or 3 days. When purchasing, you can decide whether you want free use of public transport included or the slightly cheaper Bratislava Card without local transport.

The comprehensive variant including local transport includes the following services:

  • Free admission to 23 museums and galleries
  • Up to 50 % discount for more than 100 attractions, restaurants, leisure activities and shops
  • Free use of public transport in the city
  • Free guided tour through the old town

You can buy the card online and receive a voucher that you have to exchange for a physical card on the spot in Bratislava. After activation, the City Card is valid for 1 to 3 days, depending on the option booked.

Who is the Bratislava Card suitable for?

From our point of view, the Bratislava Card has a very good price-performance ratio and pays off already from 2 to 3 activities. Especially if you also want to use public transport in the city and the region. This makes sense, as some sights such as Devin Castle or the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum are located somewhat outside the city centre.

The card also makes travelling easier, as you no longer have to worry about public transport tickets.

How much does the Bratislava Card cost?

The price of the Bratislava Card incl. local transport depends on the period of validity.

  • 24h Bratislava Card + local transport: 23,00 €
  • 48h Bratislava Card + local transport: 28,00 €
  • 72h Bratislava Card + local transport: 32,00 €

The following prices apply for the Bratislava Card without local transport:

  • 24h Bratislava Card: 21,00 €
  • 48h Bratislava Card: 24,00 €
  • 72h Bratislava Card: 26,00 €

This price is valid for all persons aged 16 and over. A Bratislava Card for children is not offered. However, children under 18 accompanied by an adult with a valid Bratislava Card can use public transport free of charge. Children under 16 accompanied by a cardholder are entitled to free admission to Bibiana (International House of Arts for Children) and free participation in a guided tour of the city. In addition, many sights and institutions already grant discounts for children or families as standard.

Is the Bratislava Card worth it?

The Bratislava Card including local transport is especially worthwhile if you want to use the city's public transport for several days. But even without local transport, you can save money on 2-3 activities.

The following table shows how much you can save using the 72h card as an example:

AttractionWithout Bratislava CardWith Bratislava Card
Bratislava Card + local transport 72h32,00 €
Public transport: 72h10,80 €Free of charge
Devin Castle8,00 €Free of charge

Total116,80 €76,00 €

Some popular sights such as Bratislava Castle are unfortunately not included in the Bratislava Card.

Nevertheless, you can save quite a bit with the City Card, especially if you want to take part in a city tour.

If you subtract the price of the local transport ticket from the purchase price, this results in a saving of approx. 21,-€. You have already achieved this saving with 2-3 sights and activities.

The more often you use your City Card, the more it pays for itself!
